Progress Pass: Task Management Application

Big Problem: College students can become overwhelmed with their workload and new responsibilities and creating workload timelines to best fit their personal rate of productivity.

Goal: The main goal is to create an on-the-go application
that allows users to manage their workload distribution and easily view
productive data to help make better time management decisions.
Impact: Progress Pass aims to promote healthy and frequent time management skills. By spreading out and dividing tasks into sub-tasks, users can feel more confident about their progress and avoid "cramming" an assignment last-minute. Staying up late to finish a task often can lead to prolonged stress and reduced quality of work. Planning tasks ahead can reduce the frequency of running out of time.

Tool/Design System: A task organization application that allows users to create tasks and sub-tasks, view workload by the day, week, or month, set customized task reminders, and track productivity trends.
Target Audience: In college, many students keep track of large projects, assignments, and social events that do not happen consistently. Additionally, this may be the first time they are responsible for projects without reminders. This transition from high school can be stressful for students who have to use time management for the first time. That is why young adults (17-late 20s) in higher education are the target group for this tool.




Task View: In Task View, users can see all their tasks with the task's due date and progress. To help reduce the stress of seeing a large quantity of tasks all at once, users can change the view to display by week or month. Users can also have more control of their task view display by using the filters option. This view helps users visually see their progress to help encourage them to continue instead of dropping a task halfway through. In the task creation screen, users can create a task, give it a due date, category, description, and sub-tasks. When using the filters, users can filter by category such as a specific course.

Workload View: In the Workload View, users can visually see their workload by day. This screen is color coded to allow users to quickly see which days may be workload heavy and which days could take on more. By pre-planning out tasks, users can break up their progress on tasks to avoid the stress of last-minute work. Users can also assign how many points they consider to be low, medium, or high workload for them. Points are assigned to tasks and sub-tasks in the task creation screen.

Productivity Data: Lastly, the Productivity Data screen allows users to see their daily, weekly, or monthly progress on a specific task or category. This data shows the percentage of how often the task is completed on time and what days of the week they typically work on that task. This feature can help users self-reflect on their productivity and adjust their scheduling habitats accordingly.

Unique Feature: One of the more unique features of Progress Pass is the Workload View. This feature allows users to quantify their tasks and visually see how busy they are. While completing a competitor analysis, I noticed that many time-management tools focus on replicating a planner for recording meeting times/dates or reducing distractions for the user. Since tasks such as homework assignments can require varying levels of workload, I wanted to create a system that helped users track this and plan accordingly.
